The Iranian American Democrats of San Diego (IADSD) is a chartered member of the San Diego County Democratic Party (SDCDP) and was established in 2004 by Iranian Americans in San Diego dismayed by George W. Bush's reelection. The mission of the club is to educate, empower, and encourage Iranian Americans to participate in the democratic process. IADSD has hosted a number of subject matter experts and local activists during its monthly meetings on a broad array of issues including food insecurity, healthcare for all, tax policies, money in politics, public transportation, and the like. Members have helped to increase Iranian American voter participation by hosting voter registration drives, canvassing for candidates, and informing the public about local ballot measures. IADSD has fostered relationships with San Diego's elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels, and ensured the Iranian American community is visible and has a voice.
